Transition Choices

My slogan for the Republican Duo is Just UNDO Plain Pain. I know challenging something new with pseudo “new” is a marketing technique. As a middle class woman, it is a bitter reminder of how little the United States has progressed in the gender divide when the women picked to lead is such an obvious example of plastic values. I know she is a mother, she procreated. I know she is a prom queen, because her vanity goes before her. I know she is religious because she attends church. All of which says nothing, because each of those traits and opinions are the sum total of a plastic patina we use to white wash the deeper issues. So what, Sarah Palin is a plastic girl, and comes to us with the ambition to not be the next Hillary Clinton. She is more of the same leadership we have had for the last eight years. Leadership based on vanity, egoism, “me first” politics that enshrine religion with doctrines of fire and brimstone instead of theological philosophy and wisdom.
I thought having a dialog with our children, and giving them empowerment for the values of chastity, abstinence and discipline was a part of what it means to be a successful parent. Making our children our own is just status quo, assisting our children to become good citizens, fulfilled human beings and mature people is a challenge that represents values, morality, ethics and a standard of living. Are we as parents ultimately responsible for the mistakes our children make? Every human being has their destiny and choices to make. When a child is still under the parents guidance and living at home, it becomes the parents duty to focus on the child and their children's needs.
For me, motherhood is not an easy vote getter. Why should anyone vote for a candidate who is a mother, especially when one of her teenage girls is pregnant? Why at this time, knowing her daughter would need her now more than ever, would anyone step into the lime light and claim to be the next woman into the white house?
All the glare of media is not unknown to any politician. I can only imagine that the GOP has gotten too used to manipulating the press when McCain's top female strategist resorts to attacking bloggers for their criticism of Sarah's family situation. Hey, if Sarah can't run her family right, what makes you think she can run the country? All McCain's team can say in response to that is to play the partisan politics card. Yawn.
It's partisan politics as usual. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/columnists/chi-oped0914chapmansep14,0,4287762.column
